These are the same scenarios where the electric companies issue peak demand warnings, asking customers to cut back on their usage when they can. Unfortunately, the times when the utility is asking you to raise or lower your thermostat, are the times when you need that heating or air conditioning the most, putting many in uncomfortable situations, but what does this have to do with the cost of energy?
More Money, More Problems.
These increases in energy need, that are highlighted in peak demand scenarios, are early indicators of a much bigger problem. The electric grid needs, not just repaired, it needs updated. The cost to maintain it in its current state is being passed onto customers, and the cost to update it is going to be significantly more, and guess who that cost will be passed onto.
The point is, these recent rate increases are just the beginning, and the electric grid you’ll be paying for in the future will be even more unstable until it’s overhauled. That overhaul will not only be costly, it needs to be feasible to do it in the first place. Major repairs require serious planning and strategy that take time, and time is of the essence.
